Captains are children, teens, and adults who are affected by mental or physical limitations that normally preclude them from participating in endurance events.
Who are the Angels?
Angels are athletes who have the honor of pushing and/or pulling a Captain on the course – they can be family, a caregiver, or most commonly, volunteers.
Does myTEAM TRIUMPH-Minnesota facilitate training runs?
To facilitate the development of lasting, authentic relationships and make sure every Captain proudly and safety crosses the finish line, we encourage Angels to meet the Captain they will be running with ahead of time. No matter the distance or event, teams of Angels and Captains have the opportunity to train together, giving Angels the chance to practice pushing and/or pulling the adaptive chair and make sure the Captain is comfortable.
myTEAM TRIUMPH organizes training runs monthly, usually on the weekends. We will bring the equipment to the designated meeting spot and have everything ready so that all you need to do is show up and have fun.
As an Angel do I need to register for the race I am running?
Angels must pay their own Race Registration Entry Fee However, myTEAM TRIUMPH-Minnesota has worked with our race partners to get Angels reduced registration fees. Angels typically receive “Tier One” pricing or 50% off in most races. You will receive a discount code when it is time to register for your event.
As a Captain do I need to register for the race I am running?
No, participation in an event as a Captain is an exciting experience that is FREE of cost.
If I sign up to be an Angel what is expected of me?
Each Captain will be given their own donation page with which the Angels will be tasked to reach a fundraising goal. Through these donations, we are able to cover the Captains’ race entry fees, team shirts/ jerseys, and support our continued mission to assist others in achieving the thrill of racing.
What is race day like?
We ask that you arrive 1 hour prior to the start of the race and stay a minimum of 30 minutes after the race. You will receive emails from myTEAM TRIUMPH beginning 8 weeks prior to the race with logistics for race day. This will include a designated meeting spot with a map and directions and information about when everyone should gather.
